Call Chain

Call chains trace and record service calls and visually restore the execution tracks and status of service requests in distributed systems to quickly demarcate performance problems and faults.

Demarcating a Performance Bottleneck

  1. At the top of the Call Chain page, select the Time Range, Application, and Service from the three drop-down list boxes, and click Search to query the corresponding call chains.

    NOTE:

    If you fail to select a service after you select an application, select Other from the Application drop-down list box.

  2. (Optional) On the Call Chain page, click Advanced in the upper right corner, specify the search criteria, and click Search to search for the desired call chain.
  3. In the Operation column, click View call relationships.
  4. Identify the performance bottleneck based on the call duration displayed in the Time Line (ms) column.
  5. (Optional) View additional information to further locate the cause of the performance bottleneck.

    Click Details in the Operation column to view detailed call information.

Using Additional Information to Locate Faults

  1. At the top of the Call Chain page, select the Time Range, Application, and Service from the three drop-down list boxes, and click Search to query the corresponding call chains.
  2. (Optional) On the Call Chain page, click Advanced in the upper right corner, specify the search criteria, and click Search to search for the desired call chain.
  3. In the Status column, check the application status and find the faulty service.
  4. In the Operation column, click View call relationships, check whether the return value is normal, and locate the fault.
  5. (Optional) View additional information to further locate the fault cause.

    Click Details in the Operation column to view detailed call information.
